Good Morning Church ,

As you know, there has been so much information in the news about coronavirus and the rapid rate at which it seems to be spreading across the world. To date there are no confirmed cases in Abilene, but it’s fair to assume that at some point there will be. Because of this, after MUCH deliberation and prayer, while also taking into consideration the decisions that AISD, HSU, ACU, the advice of several area physicians, and consulting with other churches, we are canceling our services for this Sunday (tomorrow) morning. Additionally, all of our other church gatherings, GC’s, Bible studies and classes will be suspended until further notice.

We’ve arrived at this decision because we think it is the best way for us to protect our congregation, serve our medical community, and love our most at-risk neighbors in Abilene. By canceling our gatherings, we are hoping to help slow the spread of infection so that our hospitals and medical resources in the area are not quickly overwhelmed. National experts and local physicians agree that moving quickly to limit large gatherings will save lives.

With that said, we are working on an online solution for our gatherings and will be sending out a video resource that we can all use for worship in our homes tomorrow morning. This will be the first of many such resources that we hope to distribute during this season.

There will be more information to come, but we want you to know just how much we love you and how thankful we are for this church! We also want us to be reminded that we can have confidence in Jesus in whom “all things were created…and all things are held together…” (Colossians 1:16-17). It was Jesus who told us in Matt. 28:18 that “all authority in heaven and on earth has been given to (him)” including authority over sickness and disease. We have hope in Christ even in times like this!

Please remember to pray for those around the world that have been affected by the virus, for those who have lost loved ones because of COVID-19, and for our medical professionals who will are on the front lines of this struggle. Also please remember to pray that God would use this situation to bring revival a lost world and draw more people into relationship with Himself. Love you guys! We will be sending more information soon.
