Sermon:

“Suppose you eliminated suffering, what a dreadful place the world would be. I would almost rather eliminate happiness. The world would be the most ghastly place because everything that corrects the tendency of this unspeakable little creature, man, to feel over-important and over-pleased with himself would disappear. He’s bad enough now, but he would be absolutely intolerable if he never suffered.” – Malcolm Muggeridge, Jesus Rediscovered (Glasgow; Collins, 1969), pp.158, 159.

We are talking about the “pruning” of God this weekend out of John 15:1-11. In the process of study I found this quote by Malcolm Muggeridge and at first his words shocked me. But the more I’ve read it, the more I can relate to what he is saying and the more I become thankful for this man’s words.

Prayer:

This week we pray over the preaching of God’s Word at The Well. We pray over all of the men who preach the gospel on Sunday mornings- that their message would be biblically careful and Holy Spirit imbued.
