Sermon:

Get your heart and mind ready for this Sunday’s message by abiding in God’s word- Exodus 32-34! Here we will see the nation of Israel successfully convince their priest Aaron to build them a false god, after they had made a covenant with the Lord back in 24:7 saying:

All that the LORD has spoken we will do, and we will be obedient.

This was a devastating blow to their promise, resulting in a plague on the people. However, we see that God never ceases to hold fast to His end of a covenant. Watch how He renews their covenant, paying special attention to Moses and God’s conversation in 33:12-23. Consider these questions:

  • How does Moses intercede for the nation of Israel?
  • What does Moses’ greatest concern seem to be?
  • What promises does God ensure Moses?
  • How does Moses’ role as a mediator between God and His people reflect the coming of Jesus Christ?

Prayer:

We are praying that Jesus would bring salvation for those who go through the motions of legalism, misunderstanding the free gift of God’s grace given through Jesus. (Romans 3:21-26 and Ephesians 2:8)
