For our very first Worship & Prayer Night some areas we wanted to pray for corporately included:
- The Well
- Abilene
- Our Nation
- The Global Church
- All Nations
We’d like to encourage you to keep praying over these topics as the Spirit leads, whether it is with others or on your own.
Praying in groups gives us unique opportunity to pour out our hearts to the Father, who knows and hears our prayers. It ALSO gives opportunity to learn from those we pray with as we hear them pour out THEIR hearts to their Father. Corporate prayer is truly such a gift to us and I hope it has and will bless you as we spend time in His presence making our requests known to Him.
Prayers For The Well
- That we would have unity amidst diversity, loving those with whom we have nothing in common but the gospel and that the world would see this and know Jesus because of our love for each other. (Philippians 2:2 & John 13:35)
- That a hunger for studying the gospel would form so that we can guide and guard one another in it. (2 Thessalonians 2:13-17)
- That our church’s prayers would be Spirit led and infused with Biblical ambitions, honesty and humility. (Luke 11:1-4 & Romans 8:26-28)
- That our church would grow in being distinct from the world in love and holiness, even as it engages outsiders. (Romans 12:1-2, 9-18)
- That giving would be faithful, joyful, consistent and sacrificial. (Acts 2:42-47 & 2 Corinthians 9:7)
Prayers for Abilene
- That Jesus would draw to Himself those who have never encountered Him and He would open their eyes to see Him. (Luke 24:30-31)
- That Jesus would bring salvation for those who go through the motions of legalism, misunderstanding the free gift of God’s grace given through Jesus. (Romans 3:21-26 and Ephesians 2:8)
- For the IRC to have the financial support they need to provide a meaningful transition for refugees to Abilene and for the church to be known as welcomers. (Deuteronomy 10:19)
- For Lee Elementary- for protection over their kids, their families, their minds, and their hearts. Also, for unity at the school; for perseverance, wisdom, and grace for teachers/staff to love and serve well.
- For Hope Haven- for more safe places to stay. Also, that our neighbors will be truly known and loved, and not just seen for the homelessness they are experiencing. (Matthew 25:34-40)
Prayers for our Nation
- For God’s name to be set apart as holy in our nation and for His Kingdom come and His will done in our nation as it is in Heaven. (Matthew 6: 9-13)
- Legislative Branch- United States Senate & United States House of Representatives
- Judicial Branch- Supreme Court
- Executive Branch- President Donald Trump and Vice President Mike Pence
- That hopes for political change would be outstretched by the hope of heaven. (Revelation 21:1-5)
Prayers for The Church
- That the worldwide Body of Christ would be prepared for persecution, remembering to love and not curse their persecutors, that some may be drawn to salvation through their love and devotion to Jesus. (1 Peter 2: 21-23, 4: 12-14)
- That more members would use their careers, gifts, and passions to take the gospel to places it’s never been proclaimed, and so there may be some from everywhere going to everywhere to proclaim the gospel. (Matthew 28:18-20)
- That teachers of the worldwide church would grow in dedication to God’s Word, even when no one is watching, and be empowered to teach with His wisdom. (Colossians 3:16-17)
- For us to be known in every part of the world by our love. (1 Corinthians 13:1-3)
Prayer for the Nations
- That the cross would be unveiled in the minds and spirits of unreached people groups so they may see the deception in false teachings and ideas that blind them to the truth and power of the gospel. (2 Corinthians 3:16-18)
- That the Word of God would rise as it is translated into new languages that currently live without access to it, and that Jesus would allow His Word known in written, oral, musical and dramatic forms among all people groups and heart languages on earth
- That there be peace among nations, but supremely in hearts. That peace would reign as men and women are reconciled to God through the power of the sacrifice of Christ Jesus and for people of peace that could open whole households and communities to the power of the gospel. (1 Timothy 2:1-4, John 14:27, Luke 10:6)
- That laborers will go to the nations and for good soil as the Lord of the Harvest makes ready hearts and souls to hear the gospel and respond to it with fruit bearing lives. (Matthew 7:1-8, 18-23, 9:35-38)
